The Dreaming 2021

"The Dreaming" is an art performance that draws from ancient traditions from both the East and the West to celebrate the natural world and the cycles of growth and decay. It is held at the autumn equinox, a time of balance when the days and nights are equal in length and the earth's axis is tilted neither towards nor away from the sun.

As part of the performance, baskets filled with autumnal offerings such as hazelnuts, apples, and honey from bees are presented as a way to honour the gifts of the earth and the forces of nature. In the centre of the performance, there is a small fire, symbolising the warmth and light of the sun as well as the transformative power of fire. This fire is tended throughout the performance as a way to honour its importance in many ancient traditions.
